Cacao is a medicine used in many rituals which allows us to open our hearts. It provides a gateway to hear your inner spirit and wisdom.
Breathwork is a self healing journey whereby a person breathes rapidly and evenly to influence your mental, emotional and physical state.
The practice of deep, conscious, connected breathing can help to cleanse the mind and body of the stagnant energy, emotions and trauma that build up over time.
In this ceremony we will start by sharing Cacao together and setting any intentions we may have. We will be guided into meditation with drum and song then music will be played as participants are guided into the breathwork. The deep, connected breathwork may take people to an altered state of mind where they are able to release. The facilitator will be supporting this healing process by providing reiki directly to participants throughout the ceremony. We will end the ceremony with a sharing circle and hugs (for those who want them).

Please note:
It is rare that participants experience adverse affects when practising breathwork, however it is important to recognise that this ceremony can be a medium to high intensity experience and as such participants should be in good health without any physical or mental conditions that could impair their ability to engage in this activity, endanger their health, or cause risk of harm to themselves or others. You are welcome to contact the facilitator to discuss any concerns prior to the event.
This practice activates the autonomic nervous system, as such this workshop is not suitable for pregnant women. Some people with Asthma, severe heart disease, severe diabetes, epilepsy or a history of seizures should proceed with caution, this practice may not be suitable, and you should consult with a medical professional to seek advice first. Anyone with asthma should ensure they bring their asthma inhaler.
Anyone recovering from recent surgery should discuss the severity of this with the facilitators before participating and participants with severe mental health conditions should have appropriate professional support in place and seek guidance from them prior to participation.
Possible reactions and side effects to breathwork that can occur briefly but diminish as the session comes to an end:
• Physical expressions such as a need to hit, slap or kick the floor
• Vocal expressions such as humming, shouting, screaming
• Crying / laughing
• Hyperventilation
• Temporary discomfort
• Tetany (numbness and tingling in the fingers and around the mouth, hand cramps that cause fingers to curl towards the palm)
• Short term apnea
All sessions are guided by a trained facilitator, it is important to remember that the breather is always in control of their breath and can reduce the severity of the symptoms by breathing in a lighter and more gentle way. In the unlikely event that you feel distressed, the facilitator will be by your side and help you to regulate your breathing and bring the symptoms to an end.
